Why We Created NOT YET

We’ve failed a lot!
More times than we can count.
Between the two of us, we've started things that didn't work, built things that didn't last, made decisions we were convinced were right only to discover they weren't, and put time, money, energy, and a whole lot of ourselves into ideas that didn't become what we hoped they would.
We've had wins.
We've had setbacks.
And we've had plenty of moments when walking away would have been the easier choice.
But neither of us could quite accept our stories were over.
NOT YET.
It Started With Athletes
The original idea behind NOT YET started with athletes.
As both of us are former elite athletes, we have always been drawn to the mindset of people who compete—to those who understand that one bad game, one loss, one injury, one missed opportunity, or one failure doesn't define who you are.
Athletes know what it means to go back to work.
You lose.
You learn.
You train.
You adjust.
You come back.
That mindset was the foundation of NOT YET.
We wanted to create a platform for athletes who weren't finished yet.
But the more we talked about it, the more we realized something.
That mindset isn't just for athletes.
It's for anyone who has ever had to start over.
The person whose business failed.
The person changing careers.
The parent trying to figure out what life looks like after the kids leave home.
The person rebuilding after a relationship ends.
The person who had a dream but put it on hold.
The person who simply looks at their life and thinks:
"Is there still more for me?"
We believe the answer is yes.
Betting on Ourselves
Creating NOT YET meant making a decision we've both had to make more than once:
Bet on ourselves.
That's not always easy.
Especially when you've already failed.
When you've lost money.
When people question what you're doing.
When the safer option is to stay where you are and convince yourself you're being realistic.
We've both had moments where we've wondered whether it would be smarter to stop chasing the next thing and simply settle into what is comfortable.
But there's a difference between being realistic and giving up on yourself.
So we kept betting on ourselves.
Not because we knew we would succeed.
We didn't.
We still don't.
We did it because we knew we weren't ready to quit.
We've Failed. Many, Many Times.
NOT YET isn't a story about two people who figured everything out, far from it.
It's a story about two people who are still figuring things out.
We've failed many, many times.
And we're sure we'll fail again.
That's not pessimism.
That's life.
But failure has taught us something success never could:
You can survive it.
You can learn from it.
You can change direction.
You can start again.
You can lose something you thought was everything and discover that there is still something ahead of you.
Failure can change your plans.
It doesn't have to change your belief in yourself.
Why NOT YET Exists
At some point, the idea became bigger than apparel.
Much bigger.
We started thinking about all the people who are quietly wondering if their best days are behind them.
People who don't necessarily need another motivational quote.
They need to hear from someone who has been there.
Someone who has failed.
Someone who started over.
Someone who was scared and did it anyway.
Someone who didn't have all the answers but kept moving.
That's what NOT YET is becoming.
A place for those stories.
A place where we can talk honestly about the setbacks, the uncertainty, the mistakes, the restarts, and the moments when walking away seemed like the easiest option.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can hear isn't:
"Look how successful I am."
It's:
"I thought I was done too."
And then hearing what happened next.
We Want to Help Others
That's ultimately why we created NOT YET.
We don't want to pretend we have all the answers.
We want to create a place where people can find hope in each other's stories.
Through the experiences of people who refused to stay down.
Through tools that help people take the next step.
Through apparel that serves as a reminder of a mindset—not just a logo on a shirt.
And through a community of people who understand that life doesn't have an expiration date on ambition.
You don't have to be an athlete.
You don't have to be young.
You don't have to have everything figured out.
You don't even have to know exactly what comes next.
You just have to believe that there is still something left.
A dream.
A goal.
A second act.
A new beginning.
Another attempt.
Another chapter.
Another chance.
Because your story isn't finished just because the last chapter didn't go the way you planned.
Maybe that's what NOT YET really means.
It doesn't mean we haven't failed.
We have.
It doesn't mean we have everything figured out.
We don't.
It means we've learned.
We've started again.
We're still here.
As long as there's still sand in the hourglass.
We're not done.
NOT YET.
